CLEANLINESS DRIVE FOR SWACHHA BHARAT 2021-2022

The Swachhata Pakhwada, launched by the Government of India, is a fortnight long programme observed to ensure mass participation of citizens in Swachhata activities and to truly transform Swachh Bharat into a citizens’ movement. Keeping this in mind a very colourful as well as enriching activity was conducted by St. Xavier’s High School, Howrah from class Nursery to IX which laid stress on the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in our daily lives.

On 1st September, 2021 the entire faculty took the Swachhata pledge on SWACHHATA SHAPAT DAY both virtually and in physical mode during online classes to mark the beginning of the two weeks-long programmes i.e., 01.09.2021 to 15.09.2021.


SWACHHATA AWARENESS DAY

On SWACHHATA AWARENESS DAY, a virtual meeting of SMC and teachers was conducted to highlight the importance of cleanliness. Moreover, planning was done to clean the school campus,remove all discarded and broken furniture (if any). Also special assembly was conducted for students making them understand the importance of cleanliness and spreading awareness amongst people. Students have recorded and sent videos of them making their family members aware of the necessity of cleanliness and hygiene.


COMMUNITY OUTREACH DAY

On COMMUNITY OUTREACH DAY students have reached out to the locals and taken initiative in cleaning surrounding. The teachers and school staff all together participated to clean the school building and campus keeping COVID protocols in mind.



GREEN SCHOOL DRIVE DAYS

On GREEN SCHOOL DRIVE DAYS students were encouraged to plant saplings in waste pots(class I-V) and preparation of kitchen dustbin having compostable and non-compostable compartments using waste materials(class VI-IX). Students prepared dustbins and flower pots from waste plastic containers. This taught them the importance of reducing plastic usage and the necessity of recycling non-biodegradable as well as biodegradable products.


SWACHHATA PARTICIPATION DAY

On SWACHHATA PARTICIPATION DAY, class I-III students were encouraged to show some important daily healthy habits through painting competition, class IV-VI learned the value of clean city through poster making competition and class VII-IX students learned their responsibility as a citizen to maintain a clean nation through essay writing competition. Students actively participated in these programmes held in online classes.



HAND WASH DAY

HAND WASH DAY, was organised for classes NUR-III where class teachers showed some videos on personal hygiene and also explained few necessary ways of personal hygiene and sanitization during pandemic.


HYGIENE DAY

Personal Hygiene Day was organised for classes Nursery-III where class teachers showed some videos on hygiene and explained few necessary ways to maintain proper hygiene and sanitation during pandemic.


All the posters, paintings and slogans made by students were showed to one and all in the virtual classroom to mark the SWACHHATA EXHIBITION DAYS.

Best performances were awarded and motivated on PRIZE DISTRIBUTION DAY. Name list of the winners was announced in the notice board for all competition in the virtual classroom.

Overall it was a wonderful experience and a great success.

Thus, the events have been successfully carried out on the mentioned dates.
